The Triumphs of Faith – A Work of God in Progress
Now Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it, the first group of 25 individuals gained God’s approval.
By Faith, they understood that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made from things which are visible.
By Faith, they offered to God their hearts, service and obedience and through personal relationship with Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord obtained the testimony that they are righteous in Him. Even though some of the original 25 are no longer present with us, we thank and praise God for their contributions in helping to build up FMBC and more importantly, the Kingdom of God. While they may not be present with us, their faithfulness still speaks.
By Faith, Dr. Vapordeal Sanders, our first leader and church moderator, before being called out from FMBC obtained a faithful witness through her leadership, service, compassion and dedication that she was pleasing to God.
By Faith, prayer meetings to seek God’s face about His purpose for the congregation were first held in the home of Gertrude Meadows.
By Faith, John Cooper declared the word of God at our first service held on December 21, 1992, at West River Point Supper Club.
By Faith, the “Concerned Members of Zion” 75 (plus) members strong, officially adopted the name Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church (FMBC) in September 1993.
By Faith, “A Harvest of Healing,” a series of healing seminars on building a healthy Church, led by Rev. Dr. N. C. Cooper-Lewter was held in October 1993.
By Faith, the people continued to seek God’s direction not knowing where we were going, and God later revealed the “Call” of FMBC: “Equip the Saints for Ministry.” Being specifically prepared by God to assist FMBC in various aspects of her journey of faith, Reverends Gabriel Lee and Alfred Harris individually ministered and provided spiritual direction to the congregation as interim pastors, for specific periods of time. Each one was a unique and much needed gift to the Church.
By Faith, FMBC formed a God ordained partnership with Luther Memorial Lutheran Church on October 3, 1993.
By Faith, Reverend Albert Gallmon Jr. was elected as Senior Pastor by FMBC on September 14 and was installed on December 8, 1996.
By Faith, FMBC ordained the first set of Deacons on May 17, 1997. Deacon Jerome Sweats was the first chair of the deacon board.
By Faith, FMBC purchased land in the 3400 block of Fourth St. North in 1999 to complement the vision of building our own Church.
By Faith, FMBC began construction on Phase One of a three-phase building campaign in 2002.
By Faith, FMBC 10-year Anniversary was celebrated December 13-15, 2002, with the theme of “Led by the Spirit – United in Faith.”
By Faith, Rev. Albert Gallmon, Senior Pastor, led the FMBC congregation in a march from Luther Memorial Lutheran Church to the new FMBC home and preached the worship service in our new home on Mother’s Day, May 11, 2003.
By Faith, FMBC partnered with the Minneapolis Council of Churches to establish the Center for Families (CHF) on December 31, 2004. The CFF was built adjacent to FMBC.
By Faith, FMBC has licensed and/or ordained twelve ministers during its 28-year history.
By Faith, Rev. Elijah McDavid III was elected as Senior Pastor by FMBC on September 12, 2020 and was installed on June, 26, 2021.
