Welcome to “Fast Forward” – Our 21-Day Spiritual Fast

We’re grateful you’ve chosen to step into this season of focus, discipline, and spiritual growth with us.

As you begin, we encourage you to fully commit to the fast you selected, whether that is the Daniel Fast, a fast from non-essential spending, a social media fast, or a sunrise-to-sunset fast (see below for additional context around each option). Whatever fast you decide to do, know that it is a meaningful sacrifice, and your faithfulness over the next 21 days matters.

Throughout the fast, we invite you to stay connected through daily morning prayer at 7:00 AM via Zoom (the link will be sent once you register, see the link below). These prayer sessions are a vital part of our time together and will help set the tone for each day.

Fast Forward Options

Daniel Fast

A Daniel Fast is a spiritual discipline based on the biblical prophet Daniel. It typically involves eating only fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, legumes, and water. All meat, dairy, sweeteners, processed foods, caffeine, and leavened breads are avoided. It focuses on both physical cleansing and spiritual growth.

Sunrise-to-Sunset Fast

A Sunrise-to-Sunset Fast involves abstaining from all food (and sometimes drink, depending on tradition) from the moment the sun rises until it sets. Eating is only permitted during nighttime or outside the fasting window. This type of fast is common in various religious traditions and emphasizes self-control and reflection.

Social Media Fast

A Social Media Fast is a voluntary break from using social media platforms (such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, TikTok, etc.). The purpose is usually to reduce distraction, improve mental clarity, or refocus on personal, spiritual, or relational priorities. Duration varies from hours to weeks.

Non-Essential Spending Fast

A Non-Essential Spending Fast means refraining from buying anything that is not absolutely necessary for daily living. Essentials usually include food, housing, utilities, transportation, and medical needs. Non-essentials include entertainment, dining out, clothing purchases (unless required), gadgets, and impulse buys. The goal is typically financial discipline, gratitude, or simplifying one’s lifestyle.
