Mindfulness Meditation: Rewiring the Brain
June 21 @ 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Mindfulness meditation, when approached with intentionality and discernment, is the practice of being fully present in the moment—quieting distractions and becoming more aware of God’s presence and our inner state, without judgment.
As believers, we are reminded to “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). Setting aside regular time for stillness and reflection can nurture both our spiritual and mental well-being.
Scientific and spiritual benefits of regular meditation and mindful reflection include:
-
Strengthened brain function – Enhances memory, learning, focus, and self-awareness.
-
Improved emotional regulation – Reduces emotional reactivity, anxiety, and symptoms of depression.
-
Increased resilience – Helps us manage stress and pain with greater calm and clarity.
-
Positive brain changes – Increases gray matter, improves brain connectivity, and boosts feel-good chemicals like dopamine and serotonin.
-
Enhanced well-being – Supports a greater sense of peace, joy, and overall mental clarity.
Through meditative prayer or mindful reflection, we not only care for our mental health but also draw nearer to God, becoming more attentive to His voice and more equipped to serve others with compassion and grace.
The Mindfulness Meditation: Rewiring the Brain presentation is brought to you by Deacon Earle Phillips.
