There are many benefits of chair yoga, which include:

  • Increased flexibility: Flexibility is essential in performing most of the daily tasks. …
  • Muscle strength: Although gradual, chair yoga can help build muscle strength with each pose. …
  • Better balance, coordination, and proprioception: Proprioception is the awareness of your body’s movements in space.
  • Mindfulness Meditation: An element of this yoga class focusing on our thoughts, can reduce anxiety and depression, improve sleep, lower blood bressure, and perhaps even help to cope with pain.

And because Biblical scripture is the basis for all we do as believers, it is incorporated in this session as a reminder of the charge we have to take care of our minds, bodies and souls.

Chair Yoga/Meditation, brought to you by the Health, Wellness, Fitness & Faith Ministry, is taught by Deacon Earle Phillips. The class meets the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month in the CFF.
