Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church (FMBC) is proud to host our 2019 College Tour, the second such tour following our inaugural trip in 2018.  The 2018 trip included 15 young scholars from around the Twin Cities who were able to visit some of our country’s finest Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCU), such as Morehouse College, Spelman College and Clark-Atlanta University.  We are excited to embark upon our next tour, which we are increasing to accommodate 20 scholars from the metro area.  This year’s trip will include a visit to Georgetown University, as we tour renowned HBCUs in the District of Columbia and Virginia.

The purpose of this annual tour is to expose children to what opportunities there are as they pursue their post-secondary options.  Some of these children may not otherwise be afforded such an experience.

The tour is not limited to the actual visit of each college campus. It will additionally include periodic workshops in the months leading up to the trip, which teach topics pertinent to college preparedness, such as Financial Aid, Essay Writing, Interviewing, etc.

The tour will also include self-investment on the part of the participants, where each teen will be required to raise their fair-share portion of the expenses incurred to conduct the tour. We will be requiring them to engage in individual fundraising and as well, we adult leaders will be coordinating a few group-effort fundraising activities, such as a Pancake Breakfast.
