Purpose is to empower FMBC membership and the community to understand critical need to choose risk reduction lifestyle practices that will improve family health and wellness and eliminate health disparities.
To design best practice approaches for building among FMBC ministries partnerships and strategies for wellness.
To facilitate health education sessions/health screening I to detect early signs and symptoms of disease in collaboration with community-based health care providers.
To facilitate training in CPR/AED/First aid for FMBC members responsible for emergency care and safety of the church body.
The Health and Wellness Ministry meets prior a health/wellness activity scheduled quarterly. Activities are planed around a national, state or local health theme. For several years health education resources included health providers were invited to partner with FMBC Health Ministry for a Wellness fair. American Red Cross Blood/Sickle Cell Drive, Kidney Screenings, Infant Mortality, Child /Adolescent Health Cancer, Diabetes, HIV screenings and education sessions, Cardiovascular Health, Fitness/exercise session. Meeting are usually on a Saturday at FMBC.
